The set represents concrete road barriers of the present-day type in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle nor a kit - they are separate castings that are put together into rows and used where a scene needs to channel traffic, bound a building site or separate lanes. Elements of this kind are an ordinary part of roads, building sites and closed compounds today, so they suit civilian and technical dioramas alike.
The typical use is along a roadway, at the entrance to a compound, around an excavation or as a guiding element on a detour route. Because the castings line up one behind another, you can lead the viewer's gaze with them and point it at the main object of the scene. Offsetting and slightly turning the individual pieces looks more natural than a perfectly straight line - in reality they never stand exactly one beside another. The motif is matter-of-factly technical and in a diorama it works as a neutral piece of infrastructure.
Wash the castings in water with detergent, cut the casting remains off and apply a primer. Never paint concrete in a single shade: build the base from a light gray with a hint of beige, then vary the individual pieces slightly, so that the row does not look like one part copied over and over. The structure comes out after a dark wash that runs into the pores and the joints, and after very fine drybrushing in an almost white shade along the upper edges. Realism is much helped by suggesting dirt from below - a splashed lower part, dust and muddy patches, and perhaps wet dark traces in the places where water would run. If you want to suggest horizontal warning stripes, paint them with masking tape and thin paint; the sharp transition is then reduced by light sanding, so that the finish does not look new. Unify with a matte varnish and only then add pigments.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
