Photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Mosquito in the B.Mk.IV and PR.Mk.IV versions, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The de Havilland Mosquito was a British twin-engined two-seat aircraft of largely wooden construction. The B.Mk.IV bomber and the PR.Mk.IV reconnaissance version were among the first production forms, and both did without defensive armament: instead of gun positions they relied on speed and altitude. The wooden construction also saved aluminum and made it possible to bring joinery workshops into production.
Photo-etched metal parts for a Mosquito model in 1:48 scale. They replace items that in plastic are necessarily thicker than the scale warrants, and they add the fine structure an injection mold cannot hold. The extent of the set and the position of the parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface; scissors bend the metal. Sand the remains of the tab away with a fine file. Bend them in a bending tool or between two blades, in one stroke. They are glued with super glue applied drop by drop on the tip of a pin; cement for plastic has no effect on metal. Degrease the parts before painting and spray them with an undercoat, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal.
For modelers who are building one of the two Mosquito versions named here in 1:48 scale and want to take the model beyond the level of the parts from the kit. Whether the parts will fit a particular kit is something to check in the instructions for the set before you start altering the plastic. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
