Color 3D interior elements for the P-38J Lightning fighter in 1:48 scale, prepared for the Tamiya kit. They are applied from water.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter with an unusual layout of two tail booms and a central crew nacelle. It was powered by a pair of Allison V-1710 V12 engines. The J build belongs to the later production versions. The cockpit sits forward in the center and is visible from practically anywhere, so it is worth the time.
Color 3D elements for the cockpit: the instrument panel, the side consoles, the seat harness and the other surfaces. The printing has relief, and the dial faces and labels are painted from the factory.
The elements are printed on a decal backing paper and are applied like a decal. Cut the part out, dip it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own, so a gloss clear coat belongs underneath, that is Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22. Press it down with a soft tool from the center toward the edges, and on a broken-up surface a drop of super glue helps. Work one element at a time and leave the instrument panel until last, while there is still room for your hand in the cockpit. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer.
For modelers building the Lightning with the glazing slid back who want the cockpit readable from close up too. The set saves hours of work with the finest brush, and the result reads well even in a photograph taken from a short distance. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
