A set of self-adhesive masks for models of the American Bell P-39 Airacobra fighters and their export counterpart the P-400 in 1:48 scale. The templates are cut to the glazing of one particular kit, which the name of the product gives, and they are stuck straight onto the parts before spraying.
The P-39 had an unusual arrangement: the engine was placed behind the pilot, the nose held the armament and the nose gear, and the cockpit was entered through side doors as in a car. It is exactly those doors with their own glazing that make masking by hand tiresome - several small areas with sharp corners and thin frames. A pre-cut mask solves that problem in one application. P-400 was the designation of the export variant built originally for a British order, which American units then used as well.
Mask the small parts on a wooden stick or in tweezers, not in your fingers. Always settle the mask by its center and press it from the center toward the edges, so that it does not wrinkle. At the sharp corners of the door glazing, press the edges down with a toothpick really thoroughly, because a corner is exactly where paint bleeds most often. Spray perpendicular to the surface, not at an angle under the edge of the mask, and in thin layers. If you are going to give the model a gloss clear coat under the decals, leave the mask in place until the clear coating is finished.
