A resin pilot seat with the seat belts cast in for the American Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter in the D, M and N versions, 1:48 scale, from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but an exactly cast detail part that refines the cockpit without any need to fold belts from photo-etched parts.
The P-47 Thunderbolt was a massive American fighter of the Second World War, powered by the Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine and famous for its toughness and its performance at high altitude. The seat dominates an open cockpit and how accurate it is has a strong effect on the overall impression. The resin casting combines the seat shell and the belts in a single part with realistically sagging straps, so the laborious folding of photo-etched parts falls away.
Resin parts need more careful preparation: wash them to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting block carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the seat in the base cockpit shade, set the belts apart in a fabric tone and pick out the metal buckles; a dry brush and a fine wash will add depth.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
