A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for refining the model of the P-51B fighter. It adds the details that injection-molded plastic cannot make thin enough.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-51B is an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War. Compared with the first versions it received a British engine built under license, which markedly raised its performance at high altitude, and it was from this version on that the machine became an escort fighter able to fly with bomber formations deep over the continent. The cabin still has glazing divided by framing rather than the later bubble canopy, and the armament consists of four 12.7 mm machine guns in the wing. The silhouette with squared wingtips and the radiator in a duct under the fuselage is unmistakable.
A set of photo-etched parts of thin sheet in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is used wherever injection-molded plastic is too thick for its task, that is on seat belts, the instrument panel, controls, flaps and grilles. The manufacturer's instructions state which particular parts of the model the set covers and which kit it is cut for, so check the match with your own model in advance.
Separate the parts with a cut of a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by tearing, or the piece will twist. Make the bends over a sharp edge or in a bending tool and follow the marked score line. Photo-etch is not glued with cement for plastics but with super glue applied in minute drops. Degrease the surface before painting and use a primer made for metal, or the paint will not hold on the smooth sheet and will peel off in handling.
The kit, paints, primer and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
