This set is a resin accessory for the wing gun bays of a plastic kit of the American P-51B/C Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail set that makes it possible to show the wing with the gun bays exposed, including faithfully rendered 12.7 mm machine guns (.50 cal Browning), ammunition belts and the inner structure.
The North American P-51B/C Mustang was the early production form of the famous American fighter of the Second World War, recognizable by its classic framed canopy. The wing of the Mustang carried a battery of 12.7 mm Browning machine guns, and its internal layout is a favorite subject for a detailed treatment.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, separate the casting blocks and bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). You will have to cut openings in the wing of the kit for the exposed bays, so proceed with thought and keep checking the fit. Sand resin with respiratory protection. The metal parts of the weapons come into their own once painted and given a gentle patina.
