Photo-etched metal parts for a P-51D model in 1:48 scale. An accessory for the modeler who wants to replace coarser plastic features with metal in scale thickness.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched metal parts for building the P-51D in 1:48 scale. Photo-etching solves exactly what an injection mold cannot: parts that on the real machine are made of thin sheet and therefore come out unnecessarily thick in plastic. Which parts the set contains is listed in the manufacturer's instructions.
The Mustang in the D version served at the end of the Second World War above all as an escort fighter. It could stay with the machines it escorted over the whole long route, so the fighting moved deep over enemy territory. Compared with the earlier Mustangs, the D version received a cut-down rear fuselage with a bubble canopy and heavier armament in the wing.
Before you offer a metal part up, try seating it dry and prepare the plastic surface beneath it. The feature the new part is to replace is usually sanded away first and the area leveled, otherwise the metal will not sit flush and the edge will stand proud. Use cyanoacrylate glue sparingly, because once it runs out it turns white and such a stain is easy to see on a smooth surface. Degrease the metal surface with alcohol before painting and spray it with a primer; paint laid directly on bare metal rubs off against tweezers and fingers alike.
The package contains only the photo-etched parts. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
