This Art Scale masking set is intended for a model of the American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut to the shape of the clear parts of the kit of this type, so there is no measuring and trimming of masking tape on the model and the framing comes out with a clean edge. The model is not included in the package; the set is an accessory for a build. The masks are cut for the Airfix kit.
The double-sided version: the set allows for masking from the outer and the inner side of the glazing. On the P-51D that shows mainly on the windscreen frame and on the edges of the bubble canopy, under which there is a clear view with the cockpit closed.
The North American P-51D Mustang was an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War. You can recognize the D version by the bubble cockpit canopy with a lowered fuselage spine, which markedly improved the view to the rear. Power came from a Merlin V12 built under license by Packard, and thanks to its long range the aircraft was used, among other things, to escort bomber formations over long distances.
Wash, degrease and dry the clear part. Carry the masks with tweezers, seat them in place and press from the center toward the edges. The bubble canopy has few frames but is doubly curved, so press the mask down gradually and trim any overhang with a scalpel. Spray the frames in thin coats, ideally the interior shade first and then the exterior shade. Lift the masks shortly after the paint has dried, with an angled pull across the edge of the frame.
It is an accessory, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
