A resin set that is not a standalone model but a replacement for the landing gear wheels. It contains the main wheels and usually the tail wheel as well for 1:48 models of the P-51D Mustang fighter. The resin wheels have a faithful tire tread pattern, a detailed hub and a gentle load (a slight flattening) at the contact patch, which gives the model the convincing look of a machine sitting on its weight. Masks that make painting the tire and the hub easier are usually included in the package.
The P-51D Mustang was among the most successful American fighters of the Second World War; it excelled in range and was deployed escorting bombers over Europe and in the Pacific. With their characteristic tread and hub, the wheels are a clearly visible detail on a model.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, separate them from the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the tire and the hub with an airbrush through the enclosed masks for a clean transition between the colors; turn the flattened area correctly downward.
