A set of painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. The masks are precisely cut and serve to cover the canopy frames, the glazed areas and usually the wheel tires as well while paint and clear coat are sprayed. Thanks to the exact shapes you get sharp, clean edges without laborious hand masking with tape. This is an aftermarket accessory, not a model on its own — the masks are used on the matching plastic model of the aircraft, which is bought separately.
The Northrop P-61 Black Widow was an American twin-engine night fighter of the Second World War with a characteristic twin-boom layout. The P-61B version carried onboard radar and was used to intercept enemy aircraft at night.
The masks are carefully separated from the sheet, laid on a clean and degreased surface and pressed down gently so that paint does not run under the edges. The paint is applied in thin coats, best with an airbrush; once it has dried, the masks are lifted before the finish has fully cured. It is a good idea to fill the rest of the glazed areas between the frames with masking tape or liquid mask.
These are painting masks, not an aircraft model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
