The key information is in the DUAL COMBO label: the box holds two complete sets of plastic parts, so from a single package you build two separate aircraft — in any combination of the markings offered. The edition also contains photo-etched parts, a mask set for the glazing and the wheels and decals for ten markings. The Pacific Star boxing has a theme: it concentrates on machines used in the Pacific theater — American USAAF, Australian RAAF and New Zealand RNZAF.
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was an American single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled V12 engine and a distinctive chin radiator. It was made famous by the shark mouth painted on the nose — a motif popularized by the American volunteers fighting over China. At high altitude it was no match for the best German and Japanese fighters, but it was tough, well armed, built in large numbers and effective at low altitude, where its pilots made good use of its speed in a dive and its sturdy structure. The P-40E version is an early variant with the armament in the wing; among other places it was used in the Pacific and over Burma and China. The later lightened P-40N version (which Eduard released in a different edition) is a different machine — it is worth being clear in advance which version you want.
The model is meant for liquid cement for polystyrene applied by capillary action. It pays to even the surface out with a primer and only then to spray with an airbrush. Bond the photo-etched parts with super glue; the masks that come with the kit make spraying the canopy framing far simpler. A gloss coat is advisable before the decals, with a matte coat over them once dry. The shark mouth and the other markings are on the decals — on awkwardly shaped surfaces a decal softener helps. Consider building the two models in different schemes: from one box you then get a pair that complements itself nicely.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
