The Pilatus PC-6 is a Swiss single-engined utility aircraft famous for its ability to take off and land on a very short strip and on unpaved ground. It is used to supply remote places, to drop parachutists and for work in the mountains. Under the designation AU-23A Peacemaker an armed version of this machine served in American hands; the masks also cover the civil versions of the PC-6C series named in the title.
This is a set of masks made from kabuki tape, marked BASIC in the name, that is to say the basic extent of the range. The manufacturer's instructions state exactly what the set covers and which kit it is cut for. Masks are always cut to fit a particular model, so check the intended kit in advance. The name lists several versions of the aircraft, and the instructions make clear which of them the set will fit on your model.
The model has to be clean, dry and degreased before masking. Lift the mask with tweezers, lay it in place and press it down all around its edge with a blunt tool, above all in the corners and on curved surfaces, where the tape conforms less readily. Only then spray, and preferably in several thin coats. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off, pulling at a sharp angle rather than straight up from the surface.
The set is for the modeler who wants even canopy frames and does not want to cut them laboriously from tape. Kabuki tape adapts well to rounded shapes and leaves a clean transition behind. The kit, the paints and the clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
