A combination that had no equal in the Soviet arsenal: the range of the long-range variant joined with guidance onto the heat emission of the target. The scale replica is ready to be hung on a finished model.
The R-27 series divides according to two independent features. The letter T designates a seeker head that looks for the target by its heat signature, whereas the radar form needs the onboard radar of the carrier to illuminate the target. The letter E then means an enlarged motor and with it substantially greater reach. Joining both properties gives a weapon that can be launched at a distant target without the carrier transmitting and giving itself away. The combination was carried mainly by the large machines of the Su-27 series, which did not mind the weight. The characteristic feature of the whole family is the butterfly-shaped surfaces in the middle of the body.
The nose with the heat sensor differs in shape from the radar form, so when building several variants, sort the parts out beforehand. You imitate the transparent seeker head with gloss varnish or a drop of a resin layer; a matte body then makes a nice contrast. The bands at the seeker head can be managed with narrow tape. Attach the stores only once the airframe is finished.
