A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the British manufacturer Xtradecal. It is produced as the first part of a themed set charting the history of British fighter squadron No. 111 through its service. The parts of the series complement one another and each covers a different stretch or different machines, so the designation first part is a distinguishing detail and not a duplication. The product is an accessory for a model, not a kit.
No. 111 Squadron was among the long-active fighter units of the Royal Air Force and during its existence went through several generations of equipment, from piston machines through the first jet fighters to supersonic types. Themed sheets of this kind are interesting for modelers because they make it possible to build several different models from different periods and link them by one unifying subject. The sheet is purely a technical modeling aid.
The soaking time is crucial. Do not leave the decal in the water for long; as soon as the film starts to shift on the paper it is ready, and further soaking only washes the adhesive out. Lift it out together with the paper, lay it on the spot and slide the film off the paper with a brush. A briefly soaked decal is easier to position and will not wrinkle. Work one piece at a time, change the warm water as you go and wipe the surface of the model free of grease and dust beforehand. Once dry, check the edges against the light to see whether a bubble has been left anywhere.
The package contains decals only. The model, paints and varnishes are not part of it.
