The Royal Air Force went through a rapid development of finishes and markings during the Second World War. The shades of the camouflage, the shapes and colors of the national insignia and the way unit codes were written all changed several times during the war, so two machines of the same type from different years look noticeably different. It is precisely these differences that make British aircraft a rewarding subject for modelers who want to build a particular machine of a particular period.
The sheet is produced in 1:48 scale and relates to RAF machines from the time of the Second World War. Compare its exact make-up with what the manufacturer gives on the packaging, so that you know how many models the contents will do for and which items are on it. Sheets with similar names differ in their content, so check the contents against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
With decal sheets this procedure has proved itself: first clear-coat the place where the decal is to go with a gloss varnish so that no white blotches form under the film. Cut the decal out as close to the print as possible and dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds. As soon as it releases from the paper, move it into place, blot the excess water away with a paper towel and let it dry. A softener helps settle the decal into pressings and rivets. Finally, go over the whole part with a matte or semi-matte varnish so that the gloss layer under the decal disappears. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions that it is not a self-adhesive form; a self-adhesive film that has been soaked is ruined.
