1:48 Rafale - resin engine exhaust nozzles is an accessory set from the Czech maker Aires for a kit of the Dassault Rafale multirole combat aircraft. It is not a model of an aircraft.

The set replaces the nozzles from a kit with resin castings. The nozzles are among the most closely watched places on a model of a jet aircraft: they are complex in shape, they have a thin edge and a visible internal structure, and on a model they look the viewer straight in the eye, because a model tends to be displayed from behind. A plastic mold handles this area only with a compromise - the edge is thick and the inside empty. A casting, by contrast, has thinner walls and well drawn segments and inner surfaces. The number of parts and the exact release are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
The Dassault Rafale is a French twin-engine multirole combat aircraft with a delta wing and canards. It is powered by a pair of jet engines with afterburners whose variable nozzles change their cross section in service - on the ground they tend to be open differently from in flight, which shows on a model precisely in the shape of the petals. The aircraft is operated in a land-based as well as a carrier version.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw as far as possible from the thin edge of the nozzle, trim them and sand them wet, with respiratory protection - the thin wall breaks through easily, so support it with your fingers. They are attached with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy; epoxy gives more time to align the axis. Spray the inside before you seat the nozzle in the fuselage, otherwise you will not reach it. Apply metallic shades onto a smooth, perfectly prepared base, because a metallic finish emphasizes every scratch; the pigment in the paint settles to the bottom, so stir it thoroughly. Create the heat staining with thin, heavily thinned layers of brown, blue and purple, applied gradually from the edge. At the end add a soot trail and fine dust with pigment.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
