A detail set from the Czech maker Aires in 1:48 scale. This is not a standalone airplane model but a set of accessories in cast resin complemented by photo-etched parts. The set replaces selected plastic parts with more faithful castings with fine detail and is intended for the plastic Phantom kit from Hasegawa.
The set refines the exposed areas of the aircraft, typically the cockpit area and other places where detail stands out. The RF-4B Phantom II was the unarmed reconnaissance version of the famous fighter-bomber, used by the US Marine Corps; instead of a radar and armament it carried reconnaissance cameras in the nose. Check the exact contents of the package and the number of parts against the packaging of the set.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks, wash off the mold release agent and degrease them. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); count on fine-tuning the fit by sanding and cleaning up the seams. Wear a respirator when sanding resin.
An accessory for a kit, this is not a standalone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
