Eduard 1:48 RP-3 60 lb rockets for Tempest Mk.V is a resin set of British unguided rockets with a 60-pound warhead, intended to be hung under models of the Hawker Tempest Mk.V.

This set from the Czech maker Eduard is not a model of an aircraft but an addition of external stores in 1:48 scale. It holds resin castings of the British RP-3 unguided rockets with the large warhead weighing roughly 27 kilograms, that is, 60 pounds, which were typical armament for British fighter-bombers at the end of the Second World War.
The castings have sharply drawn fins, which in resin are thinner and straighter than a part from an ordinary mold, and a clean transition from the warhead to the body of the rocket. That does away with the most unpleasant work on the plastic version, namely sanding the seam along the whole length of the rocket body and straightening warped fins.
The RP-3 was a British unguided aerial rocket of 76 mm caliber, used from 1942. It carried either an armor-piercing warhead or a markedly heavier 60-pound high-explosive warhead, which proved itself against ground targets. The rockets were fired from rails or beams under the wings and were ordinary armament for aircraft used in the fighter-bomber role, the Hawker Tempest Mk.V among them.
Cut the parts off with a fine-toothed saw, sand the cut and wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and a primer goes on before painting. The body of the rockets tends to be in a dark shade, while the warhead was picked out with colored bands, for which narrow masking tape pays off rather than a brush. Stores look best when they sit level and symmetrical, so set the model on a flat surface while gluing and let the glue cure properly. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
