A set of photo-etched parts from the Czech maker Hauler for the kit of the Soviet T-90 antiaircraft tank. It is not a model but an accessory for a plastic kit, which has to be obtained separately. The set is designed for the MikroMir kit.
Under the designation T-90 there arose in the Second World War a Soviet antiaircraft vehicle built on the chassis of the T-70 light tank. It carried an open turret with twin barrels of 12.7 mm caliber meant for defense against low-flying targets. The designation is easy to confuse with the present-day Russian tank of the same number - they are two entirely different machines, and this set belongs to the older, light one. The open construction of the turret means that the model has a great many visible inner surfaces, where photo-etched parts tell.
With parts that are to be bent into a curve or shaped around a cylinder it pays to anneal the photo-etch: heat it briefly over a flame until it changes color slightly, and let it cool. The brass softens, stops springing back and can be shaped with your fingers over a suitable roller. Do not overheat it - thin material burns through in an instant. Straight bends with a sharp edge, by contrast, need no annealing.
The order of the work is simple: first a dry run without glue, then degreasing with spirit, a primer and only then gluing with super glue. Paint the inside of the open turret before you close it in with the detail, or you will reach the corners neither with a brush nor with a nozzle.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit; it is not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
