A plastic kit of the legendary Eagle transport craft from the science-fiction series Space:1999 in 1:48 scale from MPC. The release is completed with a cargo pod that hangs in the central section of the hull. It is a large model with a decal sheet and color building instructions.
Space:1999 was a British science-fiction series from the second half of the seventies in which the crew of a Moon base travels through space after the Moon leaves Earth orbit. The Eagle is its iconic working craft: a truss structure with the cockpit at the front, engine nacelles and an interchangeable pod in the middle. It is precisely the interchangeable pods that make it a craft for everything, from carrying cargo to rescue missions, and that is also why it is among the most popular science-fiction subjects of all.
The model has large flat areas and a slender truss structure, so build on a flat surface and let the glued sections cure thoroughly before joining them together. It pays to fill and sand the seams on the hull, because every transition shows later on a light area. Apply the paint in thin coats and divide the shades by masking rather than freehand. Prepare a smooth gloss ground under the decals and finally even the surface out with a matte varnish, adding a fine technical patina into the engraved lines if you wish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
