This detail set from the Czech manufacturer Quickboost (the Aires workshop) contains resin blanking caps of type A for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX in 1:48 scale. These are the small caps with which the muzzles of the guns and other openings on the leading edge of the wing were covered in service. The set is a replacement part, not a model on its own.
Blanked-off armament openings are a small but characteristic and often overlooked detail that raises the credibility of a model standing on the ground. Type A corresponds to a particular form of the caps; cast parts have a cleaner shape than can be suggested by paint or filler.
Cut the small parts from the casting block carefully with a fine saw and bond them with super glue. Given their size it is advisable to work with tweezers. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
The set contains the resin blanking caps only. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
