This Art Scale masking set is intended for a model of the single-seat Su-27 fighter in 1:48 scale. It deals with the most unpleasant part of building a modern fighter, the precise masking of the framing of the large bubble canopy. The masks are cut to the shape of the clear parts of the Great Wall Hobby kit, so it is enough to seat them and press them down. The model itself is not included in the package.
The double-sided version: the set allows for masking from the outer and the inner side of the glazing. That is useful on the Su-27, because the canopy is large and well transparent, and with the cockpit closed the inner frames are just as visible as the outer ones.
The Su-27 is a single-seat twin-engine fighter of Soviet origin, designed as a heavy machine for air combat with a long range. Its characteristic feature is an aerodynamic layout with a smooth blending of the wing into the fuselage and a pair of engines in separate nacelles. The designation Flanker-B, used in the NATO reporting system, corresponds to the basic single-seat production version. The aircraft became the starting type for a whole range of further variants.
Wash and degrease the clear part first. Carry the masks with tweezers, seat them on the frame and press from the center outward so that no bubble is left under the edge. It is good to apply the long straight frames of the large canopy in sections and to keep checking that the mask is not sliding. Where necessary, trim the outline with a scalpel. Spray thin coats, ideally the interior shade first and then the exterior camouflage. Once dry, lift the masks with tweezers using an angled pull.
It is an accessory, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
