This set from Red Fox Studio holds three-dimensional (3D) decals for the cockpit of a plastic model. A color relief print gives the instrument panel and the side consoles a depth and a legibility that ordinary painting in 1:48 scale will not reach. The set is cut for a particular kit and is an accessory to it, not a model of the aircraft on its own.
The Su-33 is a single-seat carrier fighter derived from the land-based Su-27. For operation from an aircraft carrier it was given strengthened landing gear, an arrestor hook, a folding wing and canards ahead of the wing roots, which improved its behavior at low speeds. The takeoff run leads over a ski-jump ramp at the bow, so the aircraft uses no catapult. The designation Flanker D is the code name used in Western nomenclature. The cockpit is extensive and clearly visible under the large canopy, so a detailed interior pays off on a model.
Three-dimensional decals are not released from their backing in water like classic wet decals. They are fitted to the cockpit parts before the fuselage is closed up and the canopy is set in place. The surface should be smooth, degreased and dry. Try the parts dry and for the application itself go by the instructions of the maker of the set.
The set is an accessory for a kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
