SPACE Sukhoi Su-25 (Eduard, 1:48)

A detail set from the SPACE range by the Czech maker Eduard in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for the cockpit of a model of the Sukhoi Su-25 ground-attack aircraft. The set combines colored 3D decals with a raised relief (the instrument panel, the side panels and other elements of the cockpit) with photo-etched parts in steel, typically the seat belts. The cockpit thus gains a full-color, three-dimensional look without hand-painting the instruments and the harnesses.

The real subject

The Sukhoi Su-25 (NATO reporting name Frogfoot) is a Soviet and later Russian ground-attack aircraft for close support of ground forces. It is marked out by an armored pilot's cockpit, a sturdy structure and the ability to carry a heavy load of armament on underwing hardpoints.

Use and tips

The colored 3D decals are thicker than ordinary ones and do not tolerate softeners; they are transferred onto a well-dried gloss surface and fixed with thin PVA glue. The steel belts are flexible and hold a shape well; they are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue. Finish the interior before the fuselage is closed.
