This set from the Black Dog brand extends a model of the British Supacat Jackal with the kit and stowage that crews routinely carried. The basic model of the vehicle is not in the package; the parts are fitted to a finished kit. And it is the stowage that decides whether a vehicle in a display case reads as a museum exhibit or as a machine in service.
The Jackal is one of the British Army's light high-mobility vehicles. It was created for patrol and reconnaissance work in open country, where range, speed and the ability to carry heavy armament and several days' supplies all count. Its open layout gives the crew a good field of view and a quick way out, which is also why so much materiel is strapped to the outside of the load bed and along the sides.
First work out what goes where and try the parts dry. Arrange the stowage asymmetrically; real kit is never laid out by the ruler. Wash the surface before painting and let it dry, then lay down a thin base coat. Fabric items come alive when painted from the bottom up and when the folds are gently picked out. Blend the dust with the rest of the vehicle so that the additions do not look like a foreign body.
