The package holds a photo-etched fret for completing a plastic model of the Dassault Super Étendard carrier attack airplane. It is not a kit but an add-on accessory to a model you already have. Photo-etched metal solves exactly what injected plastic cannot do: thin surfaces, fine panel engraving and small fittings whose real thickness is a fraction of a millimeter in 1:48 scale.
The Super Étendard is a French single-engined carrier attack airplane with a swept wing, developed as a modernized successor to the earlier Étendard IV type. It served from the decks of aircraft carriers and was adapted for operation with a catapult and an arresting wire, which is matched by strengthened landing gear, folding wingtips and an arresting hook. It is precisely these carrier features that are rewarding to work up in detail on a model.
Always try dry before gluing whether a part will seat in place: with carrier aircraft the surfaces tend to be rounded, and flat photo-etched metal has to be formed first over a cylindrical object of a suitable size. Brass that springs back should be annealed briefly over a flame and left to cool. Cut off the plastic details being replaced and sand the area. Glue with thin super glue drop by drop and wipe the excess away at once, while it has not yet dried.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
