An injection-molded plastic kit of the Spitfire fighter in the high-altitude HF Mk.VIII version in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. The ProfiPACK edition is richly equipped: it contains colored photo-etched parts, a masking set and decals for several marking options. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Spitfire Mk.VIII was a mature version of the famous British fighter with a two-stage supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin of the 60/70 series and a strengthened structure. The HF (High Altitude Fighter) form was optimized for combat at great heights; it typically carried pointed wingtips for a better rate of climb and better performance in the higher levels. Mk.VIII machines served above all in the Mediterranean, Far Eastern and Pacific theaters.
Bond the plastic with a liquid modeling cement and let the mating surfaces set. Apply a primer before painting, lay the shades on with an airbrush and finish the interior with the colored photo-etched parts. The masks make a clean transition on the canopy glazing easier. Use a gloss varnish under the decals and bring the joints out with a fine panel wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
