A set of replacement wheels with flattening under load for models of the Supermarine Spitfire aircraft in 1:48 scale, variant number 5.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter aircraft of the Second World War, recognizable at first glance by its elliptical wing. It was driven by a twelve-cylinder V engine and the machine was produced in a long line of versions that differed in the wing, the armament and the landing gear wheels. It is exactly the wheels that are among the parts on which the differences between the individual versions showed.
The set replaces the wheels from a kit with wheels whose lower part is flattened, as if the machine stood on them with its whole weight. The model seats on the surface by that and stops looking as if it were floating above it. The number in the designation sets the individual forms within the range apart, so it is in place to compare the shape of the hub and the drawing of the tread with the documentation on the version you are building.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the outline of the wheel stays round. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the part; with parts that are not of polystyrene cyanoacrylate glue has proved itself. Fit the wheel dry and turn it so that the flattening points at the ground and the model stands straight on both wheels, and only then fix the joint. Paint the tire rather a dark gray than black, separate the hub with a mask and add fine dust to the flattened area.
For modelers who build the Spitfire in 1:48 scale and want wheels matching a standing aircraft under the machine. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
