An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat trainer version of the light carrier attack aircraft Douglas TA-4K Skyhawk in 1:48 scale from the maker SabreKits. It is a short-run kit focused on the less usual two-seat variant with a lengthened fuselage and a tandem cockpit for an instructor and a pupil. The package captures the training use of this machine.
The A-4 Skyhawk was a small, light and agile carrier attack aircraft, which made its name with its simple and robust design and a delta wing that needed no folding. The two-seat trainer version TA-4 came about by inserting a second cockpit and lengthening the fuselage; it served for the training of pilots and for continuation flying. The TA-4K designation is linked above all with export machines operated outside the United States. Skyhawks in various versions flew with a number of air forces all over the world for many decades.
It is a short-run kit, so count on more careful cleaning up of the parts and on dry-fitting before gluing. Use thin cement for plastic and finish both seats in the tandem cockpit before you close the fuselage up. Apply a primer before painting and apply the paints with an airbrush. Glue the cockpit glazing with canopy glue so that it does not fog.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
