The model captures the later production series (Series 2), in which the cannons were recessed into the leading edge of the wing - that is what sets it apart from the earlier Series 1 with protruding barrels. The Tempest Mk.V was a British single-seat fighter powered by the powerful liquid-cooled H-configuration Napier Sabre engine. It was marked out by its thin, efficient wing and heavy armament of four 20 mm cannons. It was among the fastest Allied piston fighters at low altitude and made its name above all by intercepting V-1 flying bombs over England and by supporting the ground forces after the Normandy landings. Series 2 represented a more mature production standard of the type.
We recommend working with liquid cement for plastic and dry-fitting the fuselage and the wings before gluing. It pays to paint and accentuate the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage. An airbrush and pre-shading of the transitions suit the British camouflage; bring out the panel lines with a fine wash and do not forget the characteristic invasion identification stripes, if the chosen scheme carries them. A quality primer will improve the adhesion of the paints.
