This item is an accessory for the cockpit, not a kit of an aircraft. The basis is formed by 3D-printed and pre-painted decals which are applied onto the plastic parts of the cockpit and give the instrument panel and the consoles relief and color. According to the name the set is supplemented with 3D-printed resin parts, so this is the fuller form: for the same aircraft the manufacturer also makes a smaller variant supplied on decal paper.
Why reach for the full set
The resin parts deal with the places where a flat decal runs up against its limits: prominent blocks of instruments, levers and other elements that are meant to have volume. The combination of the two technologies gives the cockpit a depth comparable with a photo-etched set, but without the need to bend metal and paint dial faces.
The Panavia Tornado is a two-seat combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, which arose from a joint program of Great Britain, Germany and Italy. The IDS version served as a strike and reconnaissance machine; the Aeronautica Militare operated it for long decades. The cockpits of the Italian, German and British machines differ in equipment and in lettering, which is why the manufacturer offers sets for the individual national forms separately.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the print supports off with a thin saw and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Protect your airways when sanding resin. Paint the areas under the decals in a dark base and coat them with gloss clear coat; then move the motif with a soft brush and on shaped areas simply press it down; do not use a softener or a setting solution. At the end unify the whole interior with matte varnish.
