An accessory resin part in 1:48 scale intended for the pylons of aircraft models. It is not a kit or a model of an aircraft but one small component that a modeler uses when finishing the external stores. The type 1 designation distinguishes one of several versions the manufacturer makes.
A pylon is the beam under the wing or the fuselage on which an aircraft carries armament, tanks or pods. The load on a pylon is held not only by the lock but also by the supporting and locating elements that set the store in place and stop it moving in flight. It is precisely these small but strongly shaped parts that tend to be simplified in injection-molded plastic, because the mold cannot form them with sharp edges and open gaps. A resin replacement can hold a thin arm without distortion, so the store looks convincing even when viewed from close up.
First wash the small resin parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, so that any residue of mold release agent disappears from the surface. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a sharp cutter, and never snap thin arms. Sand the mark left by the block wet and with breathing protection, because resin dust is fine and irritant. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Because the part is small, it pays to apply the glue with a pin or a piece of wire and to hold the part with tweezers. Apply a primer before painting; on a part this small choose a thin coat, so that the edges do not get clogged. For color keep to the shade of the pylon and bring out the finished detail with a fine dark wash.
The set is an accessory for a build, not a stand-alone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
