An accessory set in 1:48 scale with an American armor-piercing aerial bomb of the 1600-pound weight class from the Second World War period.
Responsibility details are not available.
The American armor-piercing aerial bomb of the 1600-pound weight class, that is roughly 726 kilograms, was among the heaviest ordnance carried by carrier and attack aircraft of the Second World War. The 1600-pound figure is a weight class, not a caliber. Armor-piercing bombs had a thick steel case and a smaller proportion of explosive, so that they would punch through a thick deck or a concrete roof before detonating. They were used against fortified targets and against large ships.
The set brings accessory ordnance in 1:48 scale for an aircraft model. It will replace the simplified parts from a kit, or add carried stores where a kit does not have them. The number of pieces and the kit it is intended for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene and cement for plastic has no effect on them; use super glue. Cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down so that the shape of the case stays smooth. Wash and degrease before painting, then apply a base coat. The lettering and the color stripes on bombs differed by period and by type of filling, so go by documentation for the particular machine.
The set is an accessory to a kit. Paints, glue and decals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
