American 500-pound bombs, two pieces, 1:48 scale, are a resin accessory for an aircraft model, not a kit. They complete a model with bomb armament of the medium weight class.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an airplane model or a kit. It is a set of two resin castings from the Czech maker Brengun in 1:48 scale representing an American aerial bomb of the 500-pound weight class, that is approximately 227 kilograms. The bombs are fitted to the racks of a model of an American aircraft.
A bomb of the 500-pound class is the typical store of fighter-bomber machines, so a pair under the wings is the configuration a viewer expects of a model. In 1:48 scale the body is large enough for the shortcomings of plastic parts from the box to show: a parting plane along its whole length, softly suggested reinforcements on the tail section and an inaccurate suspension lug. A one-piece casting has none of that and, once painted, holds the shape of a cylinder with no sanded flats.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and level the area wet; always sand resin wet, as the dust must not be inhaled. With a pair, work on both pieces at once and in the same way, or they will not be symmetrical once hung. Bond with super glue, and on the heavier part reinforce the joint with a wire pin. A primer before painting. Spray the markings and the color bands with an airbrush over masking tape wrapped around the body; with a brush a straight edge on a cylinder is practically impossible.
This is an accessory to a model, not an aircraft kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
