The American 500 lb bomb AN-M64A1 in 1:48 scale is a resin set from the manufacturer Brengun. According to the name it contains eight pieces of the most widespread American bomb of the medium weight class.

A set of underwing armament, not an aircraft kit. According to the name it contains eight resin castings of the American aerial bomb of the 500 lb weight class, that is roughly 227 kilograms, in 1:48 scale. The castings have a smooth body with none of the parting seam that on injection-molded plastic has to be laboriously sanded away, and they keep fine features such as the suspension eyes, the bands and the reinforcements of the box fin assembly. They suit completing the stores of fighter-bombers as well as a diorama with equipment made ready beside an aircraft.
The AN-M64 bomb was one of the most used American general-purpose aerial bombs of the Second World War and served after it as well. The 500 lb class represented a universal compromise between effect and weight, so it was carried both by single-engined fighter-bombers and by medium and heavy bombers. The body was steel, carried at the rear by a box fin assembly, and the fuze was fitted in the nose or in the tail according to the effect required.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the area wet, protecting your airways as you do so. It is glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise paint does not hold on resin. A bomb looks credible when you break the base shade up with fine deviations and add thin marking bands. Do not needlessly overdo the weathering; ordnance was as a rule not carried around for long and tended to be fairly clean, only dusty from storage.
