An American pilot in a full pressure suit is a resin figure in 1:48 scale from CMK, suited to high-altitude aircraft such as the SR-71 or the U-2.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin figure portrays an American pilot in a high-altitude pressure suit of the kind used on flights at great altitude. The pilot is holding his flight helmet and a portable oxygen supply. The figure is meant for aircraft models of high-altitude machines such as the SR-71, the U-2 or the X-15, and it will give them an authentic sense of scale as well as a story.
Flights at very high altitude called for full pressure suits similar to those used by astronauts. The pilots of strategic reconnaissance and high-altitude aircraft had to survive in them in an environment of extremely low pressure. The characteristic look of the suit with its helmet and oxygen equipment is one of the iconic images of the Cold War.
Before building, wash the parts to remove any remains of the mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off. Bond the resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways when sanding. The suit tends to be in light, often silvery or white tones, which come out well after light toning of the folds and highlighting of the details of the helmet and the hoses.
The figure is supplied as a resin kit, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
