This is a stand-alone decal sheet from DEF Model, not an aircraft model. It brings the markings of an A-10C Thunderbolt II of the Indiana Air National Guard in the commemorative scheme the unit prepared for its hundredth anniversary. The sheet is worked for the A-10C model from the maker Academy with the designation 12348, so both the placement and the size of the motifs match the shapes of that model.
The Fairchild Republic A-10C Thunderbolt II is a single-seat attack aircraft meant for close support of ground units. It is powered by two General Electric TF34 turbofan engines set high on the sides of the rear fuselage, the pilot sits in a titanium bathtub and a seven-barrel GAU-8/A Avenger rotary cannon is built into the nose. The C version is an update of the older form: it received a digital cockpit with color displays and the ability to work with precision-guided munitions. Air National Guard units traditionally decorate their machines on anniversaries with striking schemes that turn an otherwise unremarkable gray aircraft into an eye-catching model.
Decals hold best on a smooth gloss surface, so spray the area beneath them with a gloss clear varnish first. Cut the motifs out one at a time close to the edge of the carrier film, dip them briefly in lukewarm water and move them on the model with a brush, not with your fingers. On engraved lines and rivets a decal softener helps, pulling the decal down into the detail of the surface. Once everything is dry, even up the surface with a clear varnish at the degree of gloss the real aircraft had, so that the edges of the film disappear.
This is an accessory decal set. The aircraft model, paints and varnishes are not included in the package.
