Photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the Vought F4U-2 Corsair. Metal sheet makes it possible to produce elements in a thickness a plastic kit cannot manage: thin rims, small levers, buckles and fine grilles. It shows on a model at once, because it is precisely the thickness of the finest parts that reveals where the build stopped at the contents of the box.
The Corsair is an American carrier fighter of the Second World War, and you recognize it at first glance by the inverted gull wing, which let the designers shorten the main landing gear under a large propeller. The designation F4U-2 belongs to the night fighter conversion, which carried a radar in a pod on the wing. It was a small series of conversions, not the main production version.
The set belongs to more advanced builders who work with tweezers and do not mind fine work. Photo-etched sets are made to fit a particular kit, so check which one it matches and the procedure in the manufacturer's instructions. It is an accessory, not a model in its own right; the kit, paints and glue are not supplied with the set, unless stated otherwise.
