This item is an accessory set in 1:48 scale with a model of the twenty-liter water container of the German standard pattern. It is not a vehicle kit but a small part for the brackets on the fenders, for the bed or for a diorama scene.

The real subject

The water container was based on the same shape as the fuel can, that is three handles side by side and cross-shaped swages on the sides, but it had to be distinguishable at first glance. A different type of closure with a larger neck was therefore used, which was easier to fill and clean, along with different markings. It was precisely the confusion of fuel and water that the difference was meant to prevent, so on a model it is right to combine both versions rather than use one everywhere.

Usage tips

• Combine water containers with fuel cans in one bracket; on a vehicle that looks natural.
• Clip the small parts off over a tray, degrease them and spray them with a base coat.
• Bring the swages out with a dark wash and the edges and handles with a dry brush. The distinguishing lettering can be suggested with a fine brush or with a decal, if you have one.
• Check the particular form of the markings against the subject you are building. The set is a building part, not documentation.
