1:48 Wehrmacht Bicycle (2 pcs) is a kit of a pair of military bicycles of the German army in 1:48 scale from the Special Hobby brand.

A small kit from which two bicycles arise in the form used by the German army during the Second World War. The number of pieces is stated directly by the name: there are two in the package. The 1:48 scale corresponds to its place among hardware and suits everywhere an aircraft, a vehicle or a figure in the same scale already stands and the scene lacks the small item that fills it believably.
In the first half of the twentieth century the military bicycle was an utterly everyday means of transport, cheap, quiet and independent of fuel. Against the civilian form it tended to have a reinforced frame, a sturdier carrier, brackets for bags and simpler equipment without frills. It was used by signals as well as rear-area units, and bicycles were a common part of columns, yards and assembly points, so on a diorama of this period they look natural.
The frame and the rims are very slender in 1:48, so separate the parts under a magnifier and handle the sanding with a fine file, not with abrasive paper. A bicycle looks best when it is leaning or lying down; that takes less effort than looking for the balance of a freestanding model. Spray the frame in a dark shade, set the tires apart with a more matte gray and the saddle with brown. A dry brush will emphasize the edges, and fine dust at the lower part will complete the impression of a machine in use.
Both bicycles are supplied unassembled and unpainted. You will not find paints and glue in the package, unless stated otherwise.
