A set of quality decals from DK Decals for the British twin-engined Westland Whirlwind Mk.I fighter and fighter bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not a model and not a kit but a set of markings with which you will dress a plastic Whirlwind model. The model itself is not included.
The sheet brings markings for several different machines of No. 263 and No. 137 Squadron RAF, national insignia and tactical codes included. Thanks to the several schemes you can pick one particular aircraft and a color scheme to your own taste.
The Westland Whirlwind was the first British single-seat twin-engined fighter. It was powered by two Rolls-Royce Peregrine engines and carried four 20 mm cannon in the nose, which made it a heavily armed machine for its day. It was used above all for attacks at low altitude.
Coat the model with a gloss varnish before applying the decals, so that a decal beds down without silvering. Soak the individual markings briefly, transfer them onto the surface and soak up the excess water. Finally go over them with a matte or a semi-gloss varnish to match the surface of the model.
