A masking set from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the Zlin Z-526 Trener Master in 1:48 scale. The designation TFace means the masks are prepared for the inner side of the glazing as well. The set is an accessory for building a model, not the model itself.
The Zlin Z-526 belongs to the long family of training and sporting aircraft from Otrokovice, which from the 1950s onward became the typical machine of flying clubs. The Trener Master is the two-seat variant with a fully glazed cabin canopy stretching over both seats. Sporting machines are also typical for their colorful schemes with bold stripes and transitions, so masking is used on them outside the cabin as well.
A two-color scheme is sprayed from the lighter color to the darker one. Apply the light shade to the whole part, let it cure for at least a day, and only then mask and spray the darker color. You will keep a sharp edge by spraying square and in thin layers. Take the cabin masks off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, with a diagonal pull of the tweezers. If a mask stays on the model too long, the adhesive hardens and pulls the finish off when peeled, and the repair then costs more work than the whole masking.
