A wood grain is among the things hardest to imitate with a brush. Aircraft with plywood covering, wooden decking, crates and shipping containers in a diorama or a base under a model only look convincing when the wood has regular growth rings at the right density. A printed sheet takes that work off your hands: the grain has a fineness that fits the scale in question.
A printed decal sheet with an imitation of wood, prepared for 1:32, 1:35 and 1:48 scale. You cut the area you need out of the sheet, so one sheet covers several places on the model and in a scene. The layout of the sheet and the recommended procedure are given in the instructions supplied.
It is a wet decal. Paint the base in a shade close to the final color of the wood and varnish it with a gloss finish, so that no silvering bubbles form under the film. Soak the piece you have cut out in lukewarm water for a while, let it stand until it releases from the backing, and slide it into place. Press the water out from under the film with a soft cloth, working from the center toward the edges. On curved surfaces help it along with a decal softener, so that the film beds down. Once it has dried, go over the area with a semi-matte varnish, and the shade can still be evened out with a thin glaze.
The model, the paints and the varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
