This set from Green Stuff World belongs among the scenic accessories rather than among the kits. They are miniature boxes with finished printing in the larger size, which according to the name reckon with use in 1:35 and 1:48 scale alike. In a diorama they fill exactly those places that tend to be empty and should not be: a shelf in a depot, a corner of a workshop, the cargo bed of a truck, a cart or a heap of stores by an entrance.
Fine printing is one of the quickest ways to give a scene credibility in a small scale. The eye of the viewer looks for text and markings, because it knows them from reality, and once it finds them it accepts the scene as inhabitable. Painting a legible inscription by hand onto an area a few millimeters across is, meanwhile, very difficult. Printed boxes get around this work and suit a civil, an industrial and a military scene equally well.
Work out in advance where the boxes are to go and arrange them dry first, because a random group looks more natural than a tidy row. The printing is finished, so painting is not necessary. When you want the boxes not to look new, a gentle rub of pastel dust or a very weak wash into the edges and corners will take the newness off them. Try the procedure on one piece first, because the printing may be sensitive to water and to solvents. PVA glue or a small drop of super glue works well for fixing them.
It is an accessory for a scene, not a model. A base, figures and a vehicle are not included in the package.
