A resin seat with a cast Sutton harness for the Kittyhawk IV in 1:72 scale is a detail accessory for the cockpit of a model, not a standalone kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin replacement for the pilot seat of a model of the Kittyhawk IV fighter, that is the late version of the P-40, in 1:72 scale. The seat has the Sutton harness cast directly onto it, so there is no need to make the belts out of paper or photo-etch. It is not an aircraft kit but a cockpit accessory.
Kittyhawk was the British designation for the machines of the P-40 family, which served with the Royal Air Force and with the air forces of the Commonwealth countries. A seat with the Sutton harness, the typical British restraint system, is one of the first details a viewer notices in an open cockpit. In 1:72 scale the seat from a kit is usually simplified in shape and without belts, so this is a rewarding improvement with a visible effect and little effort.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent to remove the release agent from the mold. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw or a cutting disc and sand the surface wet, with respiratory protection. Try the seat in the cockpit dry, because resin parts tend to be designed with little margin and sometimes the mating surface needs slight adjustment. It is bonded with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate. After the primer, the seat is painted in the interior shade, the harness is set apart with the color of the belts and the buckles are picked out with a dry brush or with dots of a metallic shade. A light wash brings out the stitching and the folds.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
