A plastic kit of the ocean-going motor ship Batory in troop transport service, 1:500 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
Batory was an ocean-going motor ship, that is a vessel driven by diesel engines rather than by a steam plant. In the Second World War she ended up, like a whole row of other large passenger ships, in military service: instead of passengers she carried soldiers. Converting such a ship meant clearing out the lounges and cabins, bunks or hammocks along the whole length of the accommodation decks, an added gun position on deck and a coat of paint that replaced the shipping line's livery. Fast and roomy ships of this class were valuable for moving troops precisely because they could take a large number of men and keep up with the pace of a convoy.
The model captures the ship in 1:500 scale, which has proved itself with large vessels: the hull stays a reasonable length and there is still room on it for the superstructure, the boat decks and the masts. The assembly, the number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
For collectors of ship models who are interested in a civilian ship in a role she was not built for. Beside gray warships, a converted ocean liner stands out in a display case by her very shape.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
