The Balsa Birds hand-launched glider in the blue version is a simple wooden glider with no motor, suitable for first attempts at free flight.
Responsibility details are not available.
An aircraft with no motor that launches from the hand and has no electronics at all. According to the name this is the blue version of the same type that is offered in other colors too. Its construction makes it an item where you need not fear that a first unsuccessful flight will turn into a laborious repair.
Balsa wood is exceptionally light and at the same time strong enough in relation to its weight, so it holds the shape of a surface without loading the aircraft needlessly. It is easy to work, can be sanded with a finger and takes both paint and clear coats. Free-flying models have been built from it for decades and to this day nothing cheaper or easier to come by has replaced it. Its drawback is softness: the leading edge of a wing gets dented even against the pocket of a backpack.
A cracked surface is put right with a thin layer of glue and light pressure, or backed with a strip of wood. Do not throw a broken-off piece away; wood can be glued along the grain as well. Store the model dry and flat, as damp will warp the wood and a warped wing flies into a turn. Before the season, check that the surfaces sit straight against each other.
It is sold taken apart and the build takes place before the first throw. Paints and glue are not necessary for flying, but a wooden structure deserves gentle handling.
