Masks for the wheels and the canopy frames of the Gloster E28/39 Pioneer in 1:48 scale from Peewit are die-cut for the inside as well as the outside of the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Peewit covers the two places that catch the eye most on a finished model: the wheel rims and the frames of the pilot's canopy. The parts for the glazing are die-cut separately for the inside and separately for the outside, so the frame gets its color from both viewpoints. 1:48 scale.
The Gloster E28/39, nicknamed Pioneer, flew in May 1941 as the first British aircraft with jet propulsion. It carried a simple engine by the designer Frank Whittle, was small and single-seat, and served purely for research: it never received weapons. Only two prototypes were built and one of them hangs in a museum today as evidence of a turning point in British aviation. The experience from its flights served in the development of the first combat jet machines.
Start with the inside of the canopy, so that the frames close off visually before the cockpit is glued up. Mask the wheels only after the rim has been painted, then finish the rubber separately. Press the stickers down and run a blunt tip over them, and on curves guide them slowly. After spraying, take them off as soon as possible, so that the coat does not tear the edge of the paint away. Carefully wipe the remaining adhesive off the glazing with a cotton swab moistened with water.
The bag holds only the die-cut shapes; the model, the glue and the clear coats do not come with them.
