Art Scale double-sided masks for the B-26B Marauder Flak Bait in 1:48 cover the outer and the inner side of the glazing and add shapes for the wheels. The cut is based on the parts of the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The templates are cut for both sides of the clear parts, so the frames can be painted from the outside and from the inside. Shapes for the tires come with them. The material is self-adhesive and the individual pieces are already die-cut, so there is no work with a scalpel. The set is prepared by the Liberec brand Art Scale Kit. The cutouts match the parts of the ICM kit the set is used with; with another manufacturer the shapes differ.
Flak Bait was a B-26B bomber of the 322nd Bombardment Group that flew more than two hundred combat missions over occupied Europe, that is more than any other American bomber on the Western Front. It returned damaged again and again, its airframe went through hundreds of repairs and the mechanics gradually replaced two engines and a number of skin panels on it. That is exactly why it became a symbol of the toughness of the medium bombers: the precise daylight attacks on bridges and transport junctions were flown at altitudes where the anti-aircraft artillery did not forgive. The front section of the fuselage has survived and is displayed in the collections of the American national aviation museum.
The olive upper surfaces and gray undersides are easy to spray, but the border between them tends to be soft, which calls for a free hand or a raised strip. Mask the glazing only after both shades have dried. The rich markings and the mission symbols on the nose call for a smooth gloss base so that the decals do not go matte.
It is sold on its own as a masking aid, without plastic and without paints.
